Golf training aids, basically, if you are a new golfer and you don’t know what to do- they tend to be your go to solutions in most of the times. They are for newbies, they are for beginners and most of the training aids serve well too.
You have to understand something very clearly before diving deep into this article of training aids. Training aids do not always work great and they sometime backfire.
I have seen golfers who started with training aids and had to suffer to learn the proper way of golfing simply because they had it too easy from the get go.
I want to make sure that it doesn’t happen with you too.
You can compare it with riding a bicycle. There are some people who learn riding bicycle as it is with two wheels and then there are kids who take support from those extra two back wheels that come with most newbie friendly bikes.
You get the idea right?
Golf training aids are your extra wheels which will obviously help you for the short run but might damage your long term skills too if you are not careful enough.
That’s what I wanted to make sure you understand before proceeding with the content.
Now that we have that sorted, let’s talk training aids.
Though there are a number of different kinds when it comes to golf training aids, the majority would be either a swing trainer, a putt trainer or at best a grip trainer. They all have their pros and cons and there is no way that you will have to get all of them to begin with. You can start with the one that you feel you need the most help with.
For example, when I started with my first golf sessions back in the day, I did not have any issues what so ever with putt or grip and therefore, I did not go for a putt trainer or a grip trainer. Alternatively, I took a swing trainer and it helped my swing to be a lot better after a few days.
Depending on your necessity, you can go with all of them or one by one. I would recommend choosing them one by one because this keeps the process simple and this actually helps you to learn the most. Remember, a training aid is not going to make you a better golfer unless you yourself practice and play hard with it. An aid is just an add-on that can or cannot help you depending on your effort.
Think of it as an exercise machine for your golf career. It will only be effective if you are ready to exercise with it and in case if you are not, it is not going to be of any help at all.
Keep all of these in consideration and then go for a golf training aid. You will surely have a brilliant experience.
Cheers
